NB Cafe Team Member & Barista

The job responsibilities of being an NB Cafe Team Member and Barista are as follows:

-Learn to handcraft a variety of coffee beverages with consistency, quality, and set recipes.

-Memorizing recipes with the ability to quickly recall ingredients to make beverages in a timely fashion.

-Provide customers with excellent service, i.e. friendly communication, knowing the menu, providing recommendations, resolving customer satisfaction issues.

-Daily cleaning of equipment and facilities including floors, countertops, restrooms, etc.

-Understanding and taking orders on POS systems efficiently.

-Prepping materials such as cold brew, hot drip coffee, syrups, etc. to remain stocked for business.

-Effectively communicating scheduling needs in advance, requesting time-off appropriately, and showing up to shifts on time and in dress-code. 

-Updating Stock and Inventory through Square and DoorDash POS systems daily and as needed.

-Assisting supervisors or other baristas when supervisor isn't present to count the cash drawer and complete the frozen food pull for the next day.

-Stocking basic materials such as cups/lids/straws/sleeves/espresso pods/condiments/sugars/etc.

-Putting away deliveries from weekly suppliers including PECK (ice cream), Sysco (frozen food), Mensore's (coffee/espresso/syrups), United Dairy (milk), and Penn Fixtures (paper/plastic products), when delegated

-Creating a culture that celebrates teamwork and honors the mission and values of NB Cafe.

The additional job responsibilities of being an NB Cafe Team Supervisor and Barista are as follows:

-Managing state-mandated breaks among all employees on shift

-Delegating tasks to self and additional employees to ensure all daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks are completed accurately and efficiently 

-Checking once task are completed i.e. trash/sweeping/mopping to ensure it has been done correctly, and to offer assistance/coach team members on what could be done better if necessary

-Handling any form of disgruntled/dissatisfied customer with respect and care, attempting to find resolution or take the proper measures depending on whether or not correct action would need to be taken 

-Being responsible for counting/balancing the cash drawer the end of each day

-Having availability every week for at least 1-2 weekend shifts i.e. (Friday Closing, Saturday Opening, Saturday Closing, Sunday Opening)

-Completing the daily pastry/sandwich food pull every evening and ensuring all food items are marked with the proper date sticker

-Reviewing weekly updates with all baristas during your shift

-Displays general "ownership" over the cafe during one's shift and puts in every effort to ensure anything being done is happening to the best of its ability, or training someone how to achieve best results
